Dual Diagnostic Program of Addictive Medicine

At San Juan Capestrano Hospital, we provide inpatient and outpatient services to adolescents, adults, and seniors struggling with addiction and mental health issues. We offer specialized programming options to ensure that each patient receives the level of care they need.

Addiction & Substance Abuse Program Overview

Adults who are battling serious addictions to drugs and/or alcohol often require more intensive care in order to begin the process of recovery and achieve sobriety. San Juan Capestrano Hospital realizes this need and has incorporated inpatient substance abuse services so that those who are grappling with chemical dependency concerns can eventually live lives free from the vicious cycle of addiction.

Treatments and Therapies

Adults, aged 18 and older, are monitored 24 hours a day by medical professionals, including physicians and nurses, who put forth every effort to ensure that the process of withdrawal is done safely, with as little risk involved as possible. Additionally, these same professionals work diligently to make those going through withdrawal comfortable, as this process can be unpleasant for those who have had serious and long-standing addictions.

The following aspects of treatment are part of the services offered within this program and are the methods for care that are carried out by the aforementioned professionals:

  • Individual therapy sessions, of which occur four times per week
  • Health education group
  • Occupational psychotherapy
  • Narcotics Anonymous
  • Chemical dependency lectures

Every patient receiving inpatient substance abuse services is invited to participate in the various treatment methods offered. Each patient will ultimately gain a better understanding of what led to his or her addiction, methods for managing current and future cravings to use substances, and healthy coping skills to maintain sobriety.

Furthermore, because a number of people with chemical dependency concerns also battle mental health conditions, a psychiatrist can be contacted and consulted in the event it is deemed necessary that a patient receive pharmaceutical intervention to help with the symptoms of a mental illness. This consultation is especially helpful so that those who have a history of substance abuse do not receive medication that can compromise sobriety or cause a new addiction.

If you feel that you or a loved one would benefit from addiction & substance abuse services and the treatment methods offered within the adult inpatient substance abuse services, feel free to contact a member of our admissions staff to learn more information or to inquire about the admissions process. At San Juan Capestrano Hospital, we are here to help people overcome their most plaguing chemical dependency concerns so that a bright, healthy, and happy future can be within reach without the constraints and consequences that occur when addiction is a factor in a person’s life.
